SUIT FILED BY Dr. Steve Crawford against Attorney
Eric Wrage, Candidate for Scioto County Prosecuting
Attorney.
(Written by Austin Leedom at

On June 29, 2004 Investigative Reporter Doug
Deepe wrote, and published news on a lawsuit. Doug Deepe’s opening
words in his news article were:
"On June 7, 2004 at 8:06 a.m. local
Portsmouth Doctor Steven Crawford filed a civil lawsuit against
Scioto County Democratic Candidate for Prosecutor, Eric Wrage,
claiming Wrage slandered him in a statement to a former patient of
Dr. Crawfords. According to the lawsuit Wrage told someone that Dr.
Crawford murdered someone and that he (Crawford) was dangerous."

Questions for Doug
Deepe:
Are you talking about the Joyce A. Scott
murder which occurred on Hammerstein Road on April 10,
2003?
Is this the case involving 32-year-old Scott
Andrew Routt of 1217 13th Street, who was arrested on
April 22, 2003 and was sentenced less than twenty-four hours later
to eighteen years in prison?
Michael Mearan was the defense attorney in
this case; he, the prosecutor and the court worked together to
produce the speediest conclusion to a possible capital murder case
in the history of modern America.
In this case Sheriff Donini was quoted as
saying that he "would like to emphasize to the residents that the
circumstances surrounding this particular murder case indicates this
crime was a "crime of opportunity" where the victim and the suspect
were not acquaintances and the suspect simply knocked on the door
and forced his way into the victims residence at gunpoint after the
victim opened the door."
Is this the case you wrote about at 2:00 p.m.
on Saturday, July 12, 2003 when you discussed the murder of Joyce
Scott? In this writing you indicated that Sheriff Donini had
possibly changed his mind about the murder being a random killing.
Did Sheriff Donini change his mind after you
began an investigation of a possible acquaintanceship between the
victim and the killer? Was your investigation deeper and more
complete than Sheriff Donini’s shallow inquiry which produced his
"random killing" theory?
Is this Steve Crawford the same doctor who
was charged with three fourth-degree felony drug crimes in November
2002?
Is this Steve Crawford the same doctor that
was released by a Common Pleas Court Judge on January 6, 2004 after
writing the felony drug charges off the record because Dr. Crawford
had completed "treatment in lieu of conviction" programs?
You, Doug Deepe, wrote an excellent article
concerning the disposition of the charges against Dr. Steve Crawford
on January 6, 2004.
Is this the same Dr. Steve Crawford you had
reason to suspect of performing illegal abortions in his Portsmouth
office? You wrote of this on Tuesday, May 6, 2003.
Are abortions considered to be
murder?
I wonder if Dr. Steve Crawford was wise in
filing this action.
Does he really understand the intense
scrutiny, the interrogatories, the depositions and the exposure that
this filing will bring to the public eye?
Has Dr. Steve Crawford been made aware of the
possibility of a full investigation of the case by competent
investigators, such as Doug Deepe?
Has this civil action by Dr. Crawford been
motivated for political reasons in an attempt to discredit the
Democratic Party Candidate for Prosecuting Attorney?
Is this suit an attempt instigated by the
Republican Party to counter the publication of unethical acts
committed by members (C.B. Hermann and Sheriff Marty Donini) of the
Scioto County Republican Party Central Committee who supported
Portsmouth Mayor Greg Bauer with use of Scioto County Republican
Party funds in a futile attempt to defeat the citizens of
Portsmouth who were working for the Mayor’s recall?
Mayor Bauer and others are currently under
criminal investigation for fraud and other felonies. (Written by Austin Leedom at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 29,
