Citizens are disgusted and angry with our elected officials
who plan to build a luxurious office building for
themselves but continue to neglect infrastructure of water,
sewers, bridges AND playgrounds for kids. Not long
ago
a very young child was injured when a rotting board failed
on a structure at Mound Park.
In Portsmouth our children, our most important citizens
have been short-changed...... Our City legislators speak of
multi-million dollar offices for themselves and massive
debt for us taxpayers.
These same officials have recently
tried to sell Spartan Stadium for One Dollar and proposed
closing the only swimming pool and selling two city parks
Come to City Council Meetings; let your Councilman know you
don't want a new luxury City Building on a small lot on
Washington Street and a big property tax increase for the
next
twenty years.
Tell Mayor Kalb and your Councilman you want decent city
services at a fair price (no more Kalb water bill
raises)
and suitable recreation facilities for the
children.
Kids have too few safe places to play now that the
neighborhood schools are destroyed and the playgounds
gone. Kids in my area use the streets to
play ball and ride
their
skateboards. You must speak up for the children;
they are our most precious asset, but they have no voice, and our
City Mayor/Council has ignored their
needs.
Show up at City Council meetings. Write
Letters to the Editors.
Support our Historic Spartan Stadium. This structure and
this area could be used as a great recreation center for the
children of this city who have been
neglected and left behind
by the present City Government group.
With the present downhill direction of the Kalb-Baughman
administration many of our children will never get to see
SPARTAN STADIUM.
All that will be left to view may
be a painting on a floodwall.
At the Spartan Stadium area the City of Portsmouth
could
have a marvelous recreation park, a fun place for
kids
of all ages . Portsmouth
could have a proud historic site
to be a rare tourist attraction. There is where professional
football began.
This where the first
night game in pro-
foot was played. There is no other pro-football site
on earth
that has the
glamour and historical
significance of Spartan Stadium.
Tear Spartan Stadium down?
NEVER!
Sell Spartan Stadium off for One Dollar?
NEVER!
Restore the Stadium, create an all sports recreation
park in the immediate area and provide a
great
place for all children to play,….football, soccer,
basketball,
skateboard, softball, baseball, track, a dozen other
sports plus a Dreamland type picnic area, showers, pool,
snack bar....
Our citizens deserve and should have a
safe place for children and families in an area with
plenty of parking ....and SPARTAN STADIUM FOR BIG
EVENTS AND IT CAN ALL BE DONE FOR FAR LESS THAN A
$10 to $14 Million Dollar NEW CITY BUILDING to
massage
the enormous egos of Mayor Jim Kalb, Council President
Howard Baughman and their accomplices.
SAVE HISTORIC SPARTAN STADIUM and give our children
more playgrounds and recreation programs.

Mayor Kalb to lead SSU and Neal Hatcher in
more theft of property from taxpaying
homeowners. Public SSU money to be
spent to enhance private developer's constantly
increasing wealth. The City and the
Schools will lose taxes as citizens' homes are seized and
destroyed. Neal Hatcher will pay no
taxes on the land that Mayor Kalb helps him
to
take away from honest
citizens.
"we
should take it away from them and give it to Neal," according to
Jim
Kalb.
In a
plea for "eminent domain" SSU President Rita
Rice-Morris
recently told City Council that SSU needs more student
housing.
Jim Kalb
and Neal Hatcher want to take properties away
from Joe
Perry so Neal can build a parking lot. Joe Perry has been
renting
apartments to SSU students for many years. If Joe Perry's
houses
are taken for a parking lot there will be eighteen less housing
spaces
for SSU students this year. Will this help sutdent
housing?
Kalb
fully backs Neal Hatcher and "eminent domain." Kalb has said,
"If
Neal wants someone's house we should take it away from them
and
give it to Neal because Neal has plans." 20Aug05 by Austin

Mayor Jim Kalb and Neal
Hatcher have teamed up take any property that Neal decides he
wants. Kalb says, "Neal is an important man; he has
plans."
Jim Kalb also wants power of eminent domain
to take homes away from citizens
near the University so that real-estate
developer Neal Hatcher may expand his very profitable
near-monopoly in the housing of SSU
students.
This will
be beneficial for Mayor Jim Kalb, a couple of councilmen and Neal Hatcher,
not so good for “the
rest of us.” To learn
how Mayor Bauer and Hatcher handled
the last land-grab click on http://rivervices.blogspot.com/2005/01/student-housing-shenanigans-at-ssu.html Also read the "Hatchered"
article at
http://rivervices.blogspot.com/ written on August 9, 2005 by Robert
Forrey. These two articles give an in-depth view of the
corrupt,
vicious manner in which honest citizens in the
University area have
previously been robbed of their homes and their rental
properties by
Neal Hatcher and his accomplice Clayton Johnson. Also,
the
adminstrators and board of trustees of SSU are far from
clean,
and cannot stand close scrutiny of their actions in
eminent domain.
Many citizens have complained of damages that have been
suffered
from past actions of the Mayor, the Council and their
un-elected
co-conspirators.
Many of these actions have been vicious,
discriminating, crippling, and downright disgusting. During the next
days I hope to write more to show the almost
unbelievable brutal
corruption by eminent domain that has been
perpetrated against
honest citizens by the un-elected rulers of the city
who control the
Mayor and some of the
councilmen.

Friday, August 12,
2005 - Below is a copy of a letter to Joe Perry
telling him that the City is going to
take his property. John Thatcher is the
"Hatchet-man" for Jim Kalb and Neal
Hatcher.

John W. Thatcher is well known as an
unscrupulous man who
as a former City Councilman was charged with
wrongfully
taking money from the City, disorderly
conduct in office, and has
had people ask for injunctions against
him to keep their homes from
being demolished. He also profited
handsomely from the questionable
over-priced sale of a home on Franklin Avenue
to Shawnee State University.
Thatcher is a long-time member of the elite
over privileged
profiteers who have had their hands in the
public till for years.
